“Herd Immunity” heavy metal festival announced in US State with rising COVID-19 cases
It’s a question that’s haunted humanity since the dawn of time: which nu-metal band would you’d be willing to die for in order to see live?
If your answer is Static-X we might just have the festival for you.
The Q & Z Expo Center of Ringle, Wisconsin has announced the “Herd Immunity” metal festival, running across three days from July 16 to July 18.
The lineup includes: Static-X, Nonpoint, Dope, Blacktop Mojo, One (Metallica Tribute Band), and Thunderstruck: America’s AC/DC Tribute, with more to be announced.
The United States is currently experiencing an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, the nation’s approach of ignoring it and pretending it isn’t real not yet yielding positive results.
Wisconsin, the state hosting the festival, has a COVID-19 infection rate that currently looks like this.
Not as aggressive a spike as we’ve seen in some US states this week, certainly, but a sweaty summer moshpit bouncing to “Push it” might just change all that.
Proving that the organisers are taking health concerns seriously, when asked by a member of the public whether masks would be compulsory and if it was BYO chairs, the event organisers responded that it was BYO chairs.
